-Malik Nadal Hasan murders twelve soldiers at Fort Hood, media ignores his name

malik nadal hasan fort hood shooter

From Fox News:

A military doctor who feared an impending war deployment is believed to be the gunman behind a shooting rampage Thursday afternoon at the Army's Fort Hood in Texas that killed 11 and wounded 31 before the gunman was fatally shot.

Two soldiers were taken into custoy [sic] as possible suspects, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone told reporters Thursday evening, though the pair later were released and it isn't clear whether they they were involved in the violence.

Authorities have not identified the gunman publicly, but official sources have named Major Malik Nadal Hasan, a psychiatrist who reportedly didn't believe in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and wanted out of the military before he was set to be deployed overseas.

And since you can't put it much more eloquently than they did, here is how the gentlemen at I Hate the Media evaluated the media situation:

We hear that a Major Malik Nadal Hasan has murdered, execution-style, twelve soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas. Political correctness be damned. To us, the shooter doesn’t sound Baptist, doesn’t sound Catholic, doesn’t sound Jewish, doesn’t sound Hindu, doesn’t sound Buddhist. What does that leave? We wonder. But, we do recall the story of the founder of the Muslim-American BridgesTV network that beheaded his wife in Buffalo, New York. His name? Muzzammil Hassan.

It should be very, very interesting to see how this plays out.

UPDATE: Previous reports on Hasan being killed at the scene are incorrect; he is in stable condition at a local hospital.

-Obama passing new law to allow searching of computers, American media silent.

Pamela at Atlas Shrugs posted a very interesting story earlier...well I suppose interesting might be the wrong way to put it. I'm sick of having to use the word "scary" but this falls into that category unfortunately.

"In extreme secrecy from the public, the Obama administration is hammering out an international treaty with other several other countries and the EU ......under ACTA, the government will get sweeping new powers to search and seize material thought to be in breach of copyright. But why all the secrecy? What it will do on a larger scale is let big brother watch you; however, this time on a completely different level."

"Border guards will be given unprecedented powers to search travelers without warning. They will be able to go through and confiscate any material a person has on their laptop."

"America is being overtaken by a culture of surveillance."

If Bush's Patriot Act was an infringement on freedom, privacy, and your liberty, then what the hell is this? And WHY haven't we heard about this in America? Spread the word on this developing nightmare.

-Sky News reporter David Speers goes after Mark Arbib, Australian "Employment Minister" on Green Jobs claim

American reporters and commentators could learn quite a bit about how to interview someone and get facts out of them from the foreign news outlets.

Speers: Does that mean that you are calling this a job or does that mean they’ll be remaining on the unemployment benefit?

Arbib: No, well, this is … yeah this is a work experience program.

Speers: Is it a job or is it a work experience program?

Arbib: A work experience program is a job. They’ll be actually working during this time.

Speers: When you say it’s a job, do they get sick leave? Do they get superannuation? How is it just not the same as the work for the dole scheme?

Arbib: Well, I don’t have all the details.

Speers: But you’re the minister.

Arbib: Well, I am, but I don’t have all the details today for you mate. But what I can tell you …

Speers: But it’s just been announced by the Prime Minister.

Arbib: 10,000 young people, 26 weeks’ training, plus work, day after day, it’s a great, great result.

Speers: But it is still being worked out.

Arbib: No, no, this scheme will be under way in January 2010, and obviously some of the detail will still have to be finalized, but …

Speers: Is one of those details whether it will be a job or work experience?

Arbib: Well, well … it’s a fine line but can I tell you it is work experience. Work experience is a job.

-Do you want to pay for other people's abortions? With ObamaCare, you may have no choice.

If you are honest with yourself, you know that Obama's socialized health care will mean taxpayer subsidized abortions. For many, this is essentially aiding in the murder of a child. For those who pay taxes (people who statistically aren't getting many abortions) there really is not a whole lot of choice in the matter either.

Think for one moment if there was something embedded in this healthcare bill that was fundamentally against one of the primary points of view of the Islamic political groups, or blacks, or even illegal aliens (who are provided for under this healthcare system) in America today. There would be an uproar on the part of the specific group, and the media would report on it with the intensity of the death of a black celebrity. Obama would surely acquiesce to the pressure. But not if it's the Pro-Life groups.

-Free Speech Under Attack: None for House Republicans thanks to Pelosi. You're next.

Surprise surprise, no reports on this. Not in the papers, not on the news. It's getting very repetitive and every single time there is a noteworthy story that may offend the sensibilities of liberal politicians, no one hears about it.

Monday night Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor. What could have been so offensive or frightening about our discourse that Speaker Pelosi felt she had to protect her party by gagging free speech in the House?

In fact, we had planned to speak on the lack of transparency of the House since Democrats took control. We had planned to criticize Speaker Pelosi for repeatedly denying Members, the media, and the public to right to read legislation before it was voted on. We were set to discuss House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s statement last week that if his Members were required to read the Democrats’ healthcare reform package before it was voted on, it would fail.

So the Speaker obviously feels that if the public is truly aware of her party’s agenda, they will reject it. She is now making sure the public is kept in the dark by trampling the centuries-old democratic traditions of the House.

Thanks to Atlas for these quite pertinent Ayn Rand Quotes:

Ayn Rand said, "the principle of free speech is not concerned with the content of a man's speech and does not protect only the expression of good ideas, but all ideas. If it were otherwise, who would determine which ideas are good and where forbidden? The government?"

Rand further said at a lecture, Political Vacuums of Our Age", presented to a group of women in journalism in Indiana in 1961, "Once a country accepts censorship pf the press and of speech, then nothing can be won without violence. Therefore, so long as you have free speech, protect it. This is the life-and-death issue in this country: don not give up the freedom of the press - of newspapers, books, magazines, radios movies, and other other form of presenting ideas. So long as that's free, a peaceful intellectual turn is possible.

-A fawning puff piece from the AP for Michelle Obama

More slobbering over the wife of the greatest president of all time...

Michelle Obama brings her superstar glamor to Moscow this weekend as she accompanies her husband on his summit with the Russian president.

But the American first lady, who has wowed publics in the U.S. and Europe with her easy elegance and charm, will perhaps face a bigger challenge in winning over a Russian public that has scant respect for women who grab the limelight from their powerful husbands.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's wife Svetlana is pious and discreet and met her husband while she was a schoolgirl. She supports charity and the arts, but has assumed no independent voice on issues facing the country. She dresses conservatively, lacking the edgy fashion sense that has attracted a nationwide following for Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama's fashion sense attracts comparisons with Jacqueline Kennedy, and there is a Web site entirely dedicated to what she wears.

Here's the problem with this article: everything they say about Michelle Obama has been created by the media. Let's be honest with ourselves here: Michelle Obama just is NOT attractive by conventional standards or any sense of the imagination. As JammieWearingFool said, "I could see if Barack Obama was married to Vanessa Williams or Tyra Banks, but seriously, this drooling over his wife is just sickening."

Yes, this is the most unflattering picture on the internet.

-British Mainstream Media talks about what ours will not: the weakness of Obama

barack obama superman shirt hello kitty underneath weakness

The writer of the excerpts from the Financial Times article below is one of the far left socialists who seemingly permeate the United Kingdom. Yet even he can see that Obama is not telling the truth about his agenda when it comes to his policies, namely cap and trade and universal health care. It is hard to expect the American people to recognize these things when our own media continues to bask in the glow that is Obama.

via Watching America:

The cap-and-trade bill is a travesty. Its net effect on short- to medium-term carbon emissions will be small to none. This is by design: a law that really made a difference would make energy dearer, hurt consumers and force an economic restructuring that would be painful for many industries and their workers. Congress cannot contemplate those effects. So the Waxman-Markey bill, while going through the complex motions of creating a carbon abatement regime, takes care to neutralise itself.

It proposes safety valves that will ease the cap if it threatens to have a noticeable effect on energy prices. It relies heavily on offsets – theoretical carbon reductions bought from other countries or other industries – so that big US emitters will not need to try so hard. It gives emission permits away, and tells utilities to rebate the windfall to consumers, so their electricity bills do not go up. It creates a vastly complicated apparatus, a playground for special interests and rent-seekers, a minefield of unintended consequences – and the bottom line for all that is business as usual.

On both climate change and healthcare, in other words, the US wills the end but not the means. This is where a president trusted by the electorate and unafraid to explain hard choices would be so valuable. Barack Obama, where are you?

The president has cast himself not as a leader of reform, but as a cheerleader for “reform” – meaning anything, really, that can plausibly be called reform, however flawed. He has defined success down so far that many kinds of failure now qualify. Without hesitating, he has cast aside principles he emphasised during the campaign. On healthcare, for instance, he opposed an individual insurance mandate. On climate change, he was firm on the need to auction all emissions permits. Congress proposes to do the opposite in both cases and Mr Obama’s instant response is: “That will do nicely.”

-A Tale of Two Cheaters: Spitzer vs. Sanford in the Media

Liberal media bias at its finest. It's hard to argue with this one.

From NewsBusters:

In the wake of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s admission to having an affair, evening and morning newscasts on NBC, CBS, and ABC all immediately identified him as a Republican. In contrast, in March of last year, the networks rarely identified disgraced New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as a Democrat in the wake of his affair with a prostitute.

In a 2008 study of evening and morning network newscasts following the Spitzer scandal, NewsBusters’ Rich Noyes found that within the first week of news coverage Spitzer was only identified as a Democrat 20% of the time. However, within the first 24 hours of Sanford’s confession to having an affair, he was identified as a Republican 100% of the time, during coverage on all the networks.

On Wednesday, the NBC Nightly News, which failed to give Spitzer’s party affiliation for three days following his scandal, immediately focused on Sanford’s national role in the Republican Party as anchor Brian Williams declared: "In a Republican Party hungry for young stars, he was one of them: Mark Sanford, the governor of South Carolina...Tonight his political career is in tatters. His state, his party are in some turmoil. And Mark Sanford is no longer being mentioned as a possible GOP nominee for the White House."

-Update: ABC and the Obama White House health care collaboration

media bias love affair with president barack obama

From Drudge:

ABC is refusing to air paid ads during its White House health care presentation, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, including a paid-for alternative viewpoint

The development comes a day after the network denied a request by the Republican National Committee to feature a representative of the party's views during the Obama special.

Conservatives for Patients Rights requested the rates to buy a 60-second spot immediately preceding 'Prescription for America'.

Statement from Rick Scott, chairman of Conservatives for Patients Rights:

"It is unfortunate - and unusual - that ABC is refusing to accept paid advertising that would present an alternative viewpoint for the White House health care event. Health care is an issue that touches every American and all potential pieces of legislation have carried a pricetag in excess of $1 trillion of taxpayers' money. The American people deserve a healthy, robust debate on this issue and ABC's decision - as of now - to exclude even paid advertisements that present an alternative view does a disservice to the public. Our organization is more than willing to purchase ad time on ABC to present an alternative viewpoint and our hope is that ABC will reconsider having such viewpoints be part of this crucial debate for the American people. We were surprised to hear that paid advertisements would not be accepted when we inquired and we would certainly be open to purchasing time if ABC would reconsider."

Don't sit there and lie to the American people and try to say that this is a "bipartisan" effort, Obama. And don't deceive the American people with false claims of a non-partisan and agenda free media outlet, ABC.

-ABC to deliver the news from the White House

Here's one of the most frightening headlines seen in a long, long time...

From Drudge:

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!

Highlights on the agenda:

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

On this 6th day of June, 1944, nearly 12,000 brave young men offered the ultimate sacrifice for their country and their families: their lives.

Now, it is widely known that Google's homepage often commemorates important dates, holidays, seasons, and events with a change to their logo at google.com on the day of said events. What did they commemorate today, this 6th day of June, 2009? Why, the 25th anniversary of the advent of the computer game Tetris of course. Disgusting.

-A Little Olbermann Bashing

Everybody needs to do a little Keith Olbermann bashing once in awhile. Below is an example of the pompous pundit's show on MSNBC. If you're feeling adventurous you can skip ahead to about 3:10 to listen to Garofalo's hate speech and Olbermann say "mmhmm" in agreement like 47 times...

Here's a video making fun of him, to cause everyone to get the sick taste out of their mouths. The ultra-liberal Ben Affleck does a spot on impression on Saturday Night Live of Olbermann. Sorry about the ad, NBC is broke and waitin' for a bailout.

And another one.

-Another instance of media bias and political correctness

Here's Bret Baier on the coverage by the media and Obama of the Tiller murder vs. the murder of an Army private by a terrorist in Arkansas.

Apparently the life of George Tiller was worth more than the life of this serviceman to Eric Holder, Barack Obama, and the media.

-The media's love affair with Barack Obama

image from patriotpost

Thinking back to the verbal struggles George W. Bush had in his speeches and question and answer sessions, we heard an awful lot about them in the media. By no means was Bush a fantastic speaker. But the media portrayed him as a clown. But Barack Obama makes similar and even more embarrassing mistakes, and we can only hear about them on YouTube or other sources on buried on the

Compare for yourself what your reaction or the reaction of the media would have been had Bush made some of the same statements and mistakes Obama made.

From Politics and Finance:

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and useless (to Tony Blair's UK video formatting) DVDs, when Tony Blair had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

-No Jews Allowed

A hotel in the Austrian region of Tyrol now has a strict no Jews policy. The owner has stated that she does not want to take in Jewish guests because of "bad experiences" she has had in the past.

Why is this ignored by the media and tolerated by nearly everyone? Imagine the consequences if this Austrian hotel had employed a "No Muslims" or "No Blacks"policy, and the subsequent uproar it would cause.

The world is heading backward rather than forward.

-The Things You Don't Read About Barack Obama

Lately it's been very clear, if it was not already, that The American press is not doing their job in properly reporting the news. It took an obscure newspaper from Nova Scotia, Canada, to say what has never been said and what is very unlikely to ever be heard in the U.S. out of the mouths of CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, or MSNBC. Andrew Smith from the Chronicle Herald reports:

Obama’s first two major bills alone, the “stimulus” and “omnibus,” cost nearly twice as much as was spent on Iraq over six years – $1.2 trillion vs. $650 billion.

Obama abandoned his campaign promise of “a net spending cut,” his first annual deficit – not counting bailouts – being three times the worst deficit under President George W. Bush.

Obama’s objective in his first G20 summit – commitments to spend our way to prosperity with massive stimulus boondoggles across the G20 – was rejected out of hand.

Obama’s objective in his first NATO summit – commitments to combat troops for Afghanistan from “our European allies,” which Obama and his party imagined were ready and willing to fight if only someone “enlightened” like him were running things – was predictably refused, with some more European non-combat contingents offered as a token.

Obama’s Defense Department announced cuts of $1.4 billion to missile defense, the day after North Korea test-fired its long-range, multi-stage ballistic missile.

Obama’s economics were criticized by Warren Buffet, whose endorsement had been candidate Obama’s highest economic credential.

Obama reversed the free trade Bush policy that had allowed about 100 Mexican tractor-trailers into the United States, which the Mexican government immediately used as an excuse to levy tariffs on 90 American goods amounting to $2.4 billion in U.S. exports.

Obama’s “tax cuts for 95 per cent” turned out to mean $13 a week from June to December, to be clawed back to $8 a week in January – as compared with President Bush’s 2008 tax rebates of $600 to $1,200 plus $300 per child, which were notably scoffed at during the election campaign by Michelle Obama.

Obama’s campaign promise of a $3,000-per-employee tax credit for businesses that hired new workers – repeated ad nauseam for weeks before the election – was discreetly retired even before inauguration day.

Obama abandoned his campaign promise that “lobbyists won’t work in my White House,” waiving his no-lobbyist executive order or conveniently re-defining his appointees’ past lobbying work to allow 30 lobbyists into his administration.

Obama abandoned his campaign promise to reform earmarks, signing the omnibus bill which contained 8,816 of them.

Obama took more money from AIG than any other politician in 2008 – over $100,000 – and signed into law the provision guaranteeing the AIG bonuses which later had him in front of the cameras “shaking with outrage” and siccing the pitchfork crowd on law-abiding citizens who had fulfilled their end of a contract and had their payment upheld by Obama’s own legislation.

And there we have it: The first 100 days. Really makes you wonder what these next 1360 days will hold...
