-Diversity in the Naval Academy means different race, different standards.

From American Renaissance News:

The Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced in Annapolis recently that "diversity is the number one priority" at the Naval Academy.

The Naval Academy superintendent, Vice Adm. Jeffrey Fowler, echoed him. Everyone understands that "diversity" here means nonwhite skins.

Here's how they filter out whites in favor of less qualified nonwhites:

White applicants out of high school who are not also athletic recruits typically need grades of A and B and minimum SAT scores of 600 on each part for the Board to vote them "qualified." Athletics and leadership also count.

A vote of "qualified" for a white applicant doesn't mean s/he's coming, only that he or she can compete to win the "slate" of up to 10 nominations that (most typically) a Congress(wo)man draws up. That means that nine "qualified" white applicants are rejected. SAT scores below 600 or C grades almost always produce a vote of "not qualified" for white applicants.

Not so for an applicant who self-identifies as one of the minorities who are our "number one priority." For them, another set of rules apply. Their cases are briefed separately to the board, and SAT scores to the mid-500s with quite a few Cs in classes (and no visible athletics or leadership) typically produce a vote of "qualified" for them, with direct admission to Annapolis. They're in, and are given a pro forma nomination to make it legit.

Minority applicants with scores and grades down to the 300s with Cs and Ds (and no particular leadership or athletics) also come, though after a remedial year at our taxpayer-supported remedial school, the Naval Academy Preparatory School.

By using NAPS as a feeder, we've virtually eliminated all competition for "diverse" candidates: in theory they have to get a C average at NAPS to come to USNA, but this is regularly re-negotiated.

If we truly want to end the discrimination against minorities, why do we give them special treatment and privileges? Acts like this only prolongs it and amplifies that discrimination and separation based on race and ethnicity.

-You Can't Make This Stuff Up

american flag conservatism today voice conservative blog blogger blogs top ten review list

Take a look at what is in store for us in the world of political correctness gone haywire...

From Drudge:

Debbie McLucas is one of four hospital supervisors at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Last week, she hung a three-by-five foot American flag in the office she shares with the other supervisors.

When McLucas came to work Friday, her boss told her another supervisor had found her flag offensive. "I was just totally speechless. I was like, 'You're kidding me,'" McLucas said.

McLucas said the supervisor who complained has been in the United States for 14 years and is formerly from Africa. McLucas said that supervisor took down the flag herself.

What if it was the flag of Kenya that a white person found offensive? Would it have to be taken down?

It is being pressed upon us by liberals and other nations that we should feel ashamed of being American. We have arguably done as much for this world in our short lifespan as any other nation ever has.

-Happy Islam Day, Hawaii!

From the AP:

Hawaii is planning to celebrate "Islam Day" over the objections of state lawmakers who associate extremist Muslims with terrorism.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate today on a 22-3 vote.

"I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue -- same-sex civil unions.

Democrats countered that the diversity and positive contributions of the Islamic world should be honored.

Just what we need, 13 days after the anniversary of September 11th. Islam Day! Does it need to be said that the reason those extremists committed those heinous acts is because of the Islamic religion and the teachings of Mohammad?

Where is the Christian Day? The Jewish Day? Pagan Day? This makes no sense and is a slap in the face to the hundreds of thousands of people who have died at the hands of Muslims because of the teachings of Islam. What about separation of church and state that liberals hold so dear? The government is afraid to even say the word Christmas, but sponsoring a day in honor of the Islamic religion is acceptable?
