-Dead People Get Stimulus Checks

Our inefficient and ineffectual government headed by an inefficient and ineffectual administration that pushed through a pointless spending bill can't even get its own agenda right. Apparently the government wasted a ton of money sending "stimulus" checks to dead people.

The government has dead people filed as alive. What else do they have screwed up in their system?

Thousands of Americans are receiving federal stimulus checks in the mail, this week. Only problem: many of them are deceased.

Recently, a Long Island, New York woman was shocked when she checked the mail and received a letter from the U.S. Treasury -- but it wasn't for her.

Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago.

Romonini was a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the U.S. for a seven-month visit in 1969.

The Santopadres are not alone. The Social Security Administration, which sent out 52 million checks, said some of those checks mistakenly went to dead people because the agency had no record of their death. That amounts to between 8,000 and 10,000 checks for millions of dollars.

The feds blame a rushed schedule, because all the checks have to be cut by June. But strangely, some of the checks were made out to people -- like Romonini -- who were never even part of the Social Security system.

If they aren't prepared to figure it out and get it right then they have no business pushing it through. It's common sense.

-Too little, too late for Barack.

President Barack Obama, called our current debt "unsustainable" and that we cannot keep borrowing from other countries. Are you kidding me? This is coming from the man who pushed and signed a 700 billion dollar spending bill that was predominately earmarks or unnecessary projects.

“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.”

This just blows my mind. What is he thinking? Why was he okay with all that spending, that he said would create jobs, when in fact we're losing over 500,000 a month? This is what the majority of Republicans have been saying the whole time: this incredible debt will drive up interest rates and inflation rates. Now Obama gets it apparently. Someone needs to break it to him that it's too little, too late.

-Obama's Rampant, Irresponsible Spending

According to Barack Obama's new federal budget, the government will have to borrow fifty cents for every dollar it spends. An easier way to represent this is to say that you are going to spend a total of $200,000 next year, including mortgage car payments loans etc. What the government is doing is like if you put $100,000 dollars of worth of those payments on your Visa. Then, to top it off, there really is no way for them to pay it back anytime soon, even if they raise taxes to unprecedented levels.

The unprecedented deficit figures flow from the deep recession, the Wall Street bailout and the cost of President Barack Obama's economic stimulus bill - as well as a seemingly embedded structural imbalance between what the government spends and what it takes in.

The government does not know how to make money with its poor business structure. All it knows is taxing the "rich" who provide jobs, and spending, often to help those who are unwilling to help themselves and have come to expect handouts.

This shows ZERO fiscal responsibility and so do the excuses this administration makes.

"The deficits ... are driven in large part by the economic crisis inherited by this administration," said budget director Peter Orszag.

When are they going to accept responsibility for this spending? Do they not realize they are spending triple what Bush spent? The concept of Obama having to cover for Bush's spending by SPENDING MORE makes no sense, and the administration has really never been able to justify it with a straight answer.

If you find yourself $10,000 dollars in debt, you cut your spending, do you not? It wouldn't make sense for you to add another $20,000 in debt the next year.

Keep in mind that what the administration is doing act like they are fiscally responsible is to cut defense spending and military funding. Great idea when we are fighting two wars, we likely have another on our hands, and our national security is at risk from radicals.

It is only going to get worse, with Barack Obama pushing his government regulated and backed health care plan that will likely cost over a trillion dollars and will destroy a private sector of the economy.
